FAQ'S
- How do you use the DeskCycle?
Place it under your desk and pedal like a bicycle. The main thing to keep in mind is to pedal downward. See the following link for details. How to use the DeskCycle.
- Is the DeskCycle safe around computers and pacemakers?
Yes, the DeskCycle is safe for computers and pacemakers. As an example, if it were possible to put 1000 DeskCycles next to your computer, they would still not be able to affect your computer system. The magnetic field in the DeskCycle is contained in a closed loop. Old style pacemakers can tolerate about 5 gauss of magnetic field. The newer pacemakers tolerate 10 gauss. The earth’s magnetic field is less than 0.6 gauss. When pedaling the DeskCycle with your arms or legs, the magnetic field you get from the bike is not measurable because its considerably lower than the earth’s magnetic field.
- Will the DeskCycle work at My Desk?
The DeskCycle was designed to work with desks as low as 27 inches (measured between the floor and underneath side of the desk) by the average male (5'10"). At 5' 10" you will need to push the bike further away from you and extend your legs to prevent your knees from hitting the underneath side of the desk. You may also need to lower your chair. Taller people will need a taller desk. Go to this web page for more details.
- How do I get a High Cardio Workout with the DeskCycle?
The short answer is "pedal faster and lower the resistance". As an example if you set the resistance dial to 4 and pedal at 30 mph you will probably reach your max heart rate within a few minutes. You could back off of the pedal speed and/or resistance to hit your target heart rate.
- Can I use the DeskCycle without working up a sweat?
Yes. The typical use is to pedal the bike at 15mph or less at a lower resistance. Go here to learn more.
- Can I Charge My Cell Phone with the DeskCycle?
We decided not to add this feature because it would likely waste more energy to manufacture the charging circuitry than you would save by using it to charge your cell phone. Most people are surprised to hear that it only costs about 50 cents per year to charge your cell phone. The good news is that you can use the DeskCycle to save about 100 times the energy than you would if we added a cell phone charger to the bike. Go to this link for details.
